Shortly after breakfast, I got working on making cupcakes. It took pretty much all afternoon to make 4 dozen mini cupcakes while trying to cook lunch, clean the kitchen, and entertain 3 kids.
I asked Apolline what she wanted to eat for lunch today since she's the birthday girl. She chose white rice, a favorite thanks to their previous au pair from china, and fried chicken thanks to me. I had no idea the super bad for you fried chicken and white gravy that I made one day was her favorite. Her parents can thank me for that one later.
The cupcakes turned out adorable! The cake is plain vanilla with too much butter. Paula Dean would be proud. The icing is just cream cheese with powdered sugar. They're amazing. Everyone loved them. I think the dad ate 5 of them...
And all my French teachers lied. We always sang Happy Birthday in French when it was someones birthday, but the French sing Happy Birthday in English. Even if they don't exactly know what the words mean, they sing it in English anyway.
