It hasn't really hit me yet that I am moving. I have wanted to be an au pair for the past 3 years, and I can't believe it is actually happening! Before, it was just a dream or and idea to do in the future, but now it has become my plan for the next 12 months. I never really expected to be an au pair for that long. The length scared me, but I know it's hard to find an au pair position shorter than that. I could be an au pair for a summer, but I don't want to just see Paris, France. I want to experience it! That takes someone like me a lot of time to explore and get used to the culture. If I love it, I will really enjoy my year. If I hate it, I'll spend my free time getting away from Paris and going to the surrounding cities or countries. Either way, I know I will be gone for a year. I hope this time will be a time of growing and educating myself. That sounds cheesy, but I know that's what I need.
